Around 3,000 personnel from 19 NATO Allies and partners took part in the annual maritime exercise Baltic Operations, or BALTOPS, in the Baltic Sea. This year’s exercise was the first major European maritime event since the outbreak of COVID-19 and ran from 7 to 16 June 2020. Allies and partners participated in live training events, including air defence, anti-submarine operations and maritime interdiction. To ensure the safety and health of participating military personnel, BALTOPS 2020 took place exclusively at sea.
